Thanks to groups like the Connecticut Technology Council, the state is re-creating an environment that is friendly to entrepreneurs and investors. Analysts in data communications and network systems will see some of the highest job growth in the state, at a rate of up to 44% through 2016. Home health care, customer service, and employment/recruitment—all fields employing graduates in psychology—are all expected to see growth around 20% through 2016.

Last year, in order to further the growth of the state economy, the Connecticut House of Representatives formed the Job Growth Roundtable, bringing together legislators, academics, venture capitalists, economists, and business leaders. They came up with a strategy to create “green” jobs, attract and retain a younger workforce, and promote entrepreneurship and innovation.

The plan seems to be working. Employment of psychologists is expected to grow an average 14 percent from 2008 to 2018 (Bureau of Labor Statistics). Those with a bachelor’s degree in psychology will be eligible for employment related to healthcare, quantitative research, industrial-organization, human services, and management, among other fields.
