Michigan bachelors in psychology

In Michigan, psychology graduates are employed in a number of the highest-growth occupations in the state, including manufacturing, information technology, and health and human services. Despite a recent recession and a declining U.S. auto industry, Michigan is still one of the top manufacturing states in the country. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently put together a $2.1 billion incentive investment to keep and attract new businesses and job opportunities to the state, in sectors of the economy ranging from manufacturing and construction to technology and alternative energy.

Skills gained in a bachelor’s degree programs in psychology create opportunities for graduates to work in manufacturing-oriented economies in areas such as organizational and industrial psychology. Graduates work with businesses in creating optimized schedules, improving work environments, employee health and wellbeing. Individuals with degrees in psychology also work in employee training, recruitment, vocational counseling, and workplace behavior.

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority appears to be committed to further diversifying the state’s economic base while maintaining its position as the automobile capital of the world. Psychology graduates are prepared for work in any industry in the state in which human welfare is involved, whether the graduate is dealing with those employed at a company or those looking for employment. Graduates will be needed to work in the areas of social service, employment counseling, social work, training, substance abuse counseling, and adult education.

With a well-rounded background in liberal arts, interpersonal communications, and behavioral sciences, and with careers in psychology predicted to continue to grow nationwide, Michigan remains an attractive place for those completing degree programs in psychology.
