Step Three:

As a licensed associate MFT, you can start working towards the professional experience requirements. This includes 1500 hours of direct marital and family therapy, 200 hours or more of supervised clinical contact which should include 100 hours of individual supervision and 100 hours of group therapy. Additionally six contact hours of domestic violence training is also needed.

Step Four:

Now you can apply to take the Examination of Marital and Family Therapy. You will first need to complete an application for MFT licensure. You can download the application here.

Once your application has been approved the board will issue you a temporary license that allows you to practice marital and family therapy while waiting for the examination.
