Below are basic guidelines for those wishing to earn their marriage and family therapist licensure in Kansas. These procedures rarely change; however, it is wise to contact the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board at (785) 296-3240 to make sure you are on the right track.
Follow these steps to earn your Kansas MFT License:
Step One:
To become eligible for a Kansas marriage and family therapist license, you will need to earn at least your masters degree from an accredited school.
- Capella University - Master's of Science in Human Services (HS) - Marital, Couple, and Family Counsel/Therapy
- Grand Canyon University - Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy
- Liberty University - Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy
- Saybrook Graduate School - Master's in Psychology (Marriage and Family Therapy specialization)

Step Two:
Your graduate program should include a practicum consisting of at least 500 hours of client interactive experience. 100 hours of which need to be under the supervision of a qualified supervisor.

Step Three:
Next, you will need to download the Kansas Marriage and Family Therapy licensure application and submit it to the Board along with any other necessary forms and fees.

Step Four:
Once the Board has approved your application, they will notify you of your eligibility to take the Marriage and Family Therapy National Exam.
