Kentucky Marriage and Family Therapist Licensure

Learn how to earn your MFT licensure in KY

Below are basic guidelines for those wishing to earn their marriage and family therapist licensure in Kentucky. These procedures rarely change; however, it is wise to contact the Kentucky Board of Licensure of Marriage and Family Therapists at (502)-564-3296 to make sure you are on the right track.

Follow these steps to earn your Kentucky MFT License:

Step One:

To qualify for a Kentucky marriage and family therapist license, you will need your masters degree from an accredited school.

Or request information from additional schools offering Marriage and Family Therapy programs in Kentucky. If you have not completed a bachelor's degree program yet, Click Here.

Step Two:

After receiving your masters degree, you will need two years of supervised professional experience. The supervisor must be Board approved.

Step Three:

Once you have completed the above requirements, you can download and submit the Kentucky Marriage and Family Therapy licensure application to the Kentucky Board of Marriage and Family Therapists along with any other required forms and fees.

Step Four:

The Board will then review your application and notify you once it is approved. You will then be eligible to take the Marriage and Family Therapy National Exam.
