Nevada Marriage and Family Therapist Licensure

Learn how to earn your MFT licensure in NV

Below are basic guidelines for those wishing to earn their marriage and family therapist licensure in Nevada. These procedures rarely change; however, it is wise to contact the Nevada State Board of Examiners for Mariage and Family Therapists at (702) 486-7388 to make sure you are on the right track.

Follow these steps to earn your Nevada MFT License:

Step One:

Complete a graduate degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work or Psychology that is approved by the Nevada board and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage nad Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE)

Step Two:

Next, you will need to complete 3000 hours of MFT experience in an approved internship.

Step Three:

After completing the experience requirements, you will need to download and submit the Nevada marriage and family therapy license application found at the bottom of the following Nevada Board of Examiners webpage.

Step Four:

Once approved, you will be contacted and informed of your eligibility to sit for the Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB) Examination.
