Oklahoma Marriage and Family Therapist Licensure

Learn how to earn your MFT licensure in OK

Below are basic guidelines for those wishing to earn their marriage and family therapist licensure in Oklahoma. These procedures rarely change; however, it is wise to contact the Oklahoma Professional MFT Licensing Division at (405) 271-6030 to make sure you are on the right track.

Follow these steps to earn your Oklahoma MFT License:

Step One:

To practice as a licensed marital and family therapist in Oklahoma, you will need at least a masters degree in mariage and family therapy from an accredited school.

Step Two:

After receiving your degree, you will need 2 years of supervised work experience. During the acquisition of these two years, you will need 1000 hours of direct client contact. In addition, all experience needs to be under a qualified supervisor.

Step Three:

Now, you can download the Oklahoma marriage and family therapy license application and submit the application along with all supporting documents and required fees to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Step Four:

The Department will review your application and will give notification once you have been approved to take the Oklahoma MFT licensure exam. Oklahoma requires that you pass the Examination in Marital and Family Therapy.
