Below are basic guidelines for those wishing to earn their marriage and family therapist licensure in Wyoming. These procedures rarely change; however, it is wise to contact the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board at (307) 777-3628 to make sure you are on the right track.
Follow these steps to earn your Wyoming MFT License:
Step One:
You will first need to complete a masters degree program from an accredited school in order to practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist in Wyoming.
- Capella University - Master's of Science in Human Services (HS) - Marital, Couple, and Family Counsel/Therapy
- Grand Canyon University - Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy
- Liberty University - Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy
- Saybrook Graduate School - Master's in Psychology (Marriage and Family Therapy specialization)

Step Two:
Next, you will need to earn 3000 hours of supervised work experience. At least 100 of these hours need to be under direct supervision from a clinical level supervisor. More details about the requirements and qualifying supervisors can be found on the following Wyoming State Legislature webpage.
Step Three:
You will need to submit a Wyoming Marriage and Family Therapist licensure application to the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board. You will need to provide all necessary supporting forms and and application processing fees as well. You may request an application from the Board by using the contact information found here.
Step Four:
The Board will review your application and notify you of your eligibility to take the national Examination in Marital and Family Therapy.
